About Twinning project

These webpages are dedicated to the TWINNING project entitled "Scientific excellence in Nano-CATalysis at the Heyrovsky Institute" (acronym NanoCAT) supported from October 2022 under the new Horizon Europe programme for research and innovation (HORIZON-WIDERA-2021-ACCESS-03-01).

This TWINNING call aims to support the bridging of the gap between Member States in the development and exploitation of research and innovation potential. The objective is to support the more equitable and long-lasting dissemination of outstanding research in the European Research Area (ERA). In order to do this, a consortium collaboration has been established between the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS (HIPC), the Ulm University and the Technical University of Vienna .

In this 3-year project, the HIPC acts as coordinator, gathering experience from its partners and building further international scientific links, while integrating the HIPC  into the ERA.

This partnership will not only enable the HIPC to carry out highly interdisciplinary research in the field of nanocatalysis by establishing close collaboration and sharing experiences but also enhance the reputation and attractiveness of the coordinating institute for Czech and foreign scientists, the business sector and other institutions.

This multidisciplinary research-oriented project thus aims to strengthen the scientific base (including PhD students) in the field of nanocatalysis in accordance with equal opportunities and gender balance through training, knowledge exchange, networking to EU scientific platforms in the area of nanocatalysis, e.g. international conferences on nanocatalysis, summer schools where nanocatalysis experts will present their scientific results and dissemination of results. Experience will also be gained by the administrative staff within the project, with a focus on grant support, as one of the objectives is also to establish a European office of the HIPC and to increase the potential for participation in Horizon Europe calls. The planned mobility of administrative staff will support the development and creativity of new approaches. It will also improve skills in proposal preparation and project management precisely through the experience and best practices of these partner organisations.
